Apple has just released the second beta release of iOS 5 to developers. The first beta came just over two weeks ago are available after the launch at WWDC 2011 in San Francisco. Beta 2 includes many improvements, more about that in the rest of the article. The new beta is available from the iOS Dev Center. These build 9A5248d for the 3rd and 4th generation iPod touch , iPhone 3G, iPhone, and all four iPhone models.

- iOS 5 b2 now shows an animated Apple logo on startup;
- The initial findings, the improved performance of the battery compared to beta 1;
- Overall speed improvements, bug fixes from beta 1;
- Software Update (for Over The Air updates) is activated in b2;
- icloud in the Settings app has a new logo;
- If no new messages are in Message Center that says "No new messages" is shown;
- Fair widget is disabled by default in Message Center;
- Default wallpapers are back, no differences compared to iOS 4;
- Wireless sync must first be activated in iTunes (requires connection via USB device);
- FaceTime Beta 2 is deactivated in the next beta is reactivated, says Apple;
- iMessage b2 is disabled and can not be involved;
