- 3. You do not have a SIM card to activate the iPhone, download this customized firmware 4.1 for iPhone 3G: iPhone1, 2_4.1_8B117_hacktivated.ipsw.
- 2. IOS official 4.2.1 iPhone 3G: iPhone2, 1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw
- 3. You have a SIM card to activate the iPhone, download this customized firmware 4.1 for iPhone 3G: iPhone2, 1_4.1_8B117_activated.ipsw
- 3. You do not have a SIM card to activate the iPhone, download this customized firmware 4.1 for iPhone 3G: iPhone2, 1_4.1_8B117_hacktivated.ipsw

Unzip the file you downloaded redsn0w_xxx_0.9.6b5.zip in step 2 on your desktop.

A window appears asking if you have the old bootrom / or new iBoot:

"IPSW Successfully identified" appears on redsn0w> click Next> wait while loading:

Just check the box "Just enter DFU mode right now pwned"

- A progress bar appears on redsn0w> you can release the Home button (bottom).
If you succeeded, "Done"appears on redsn0w and you have a black screen on the iPhone. If this is not the case, an error message "Failed DFU Mode" displayed> click OK and repeat step 8 and 9.
If redsn0w hangs over the stage Waiting for reboot> disconnect and reconnect the iPhone to the computer.
Step 10:
Click Finish to close redsn0w:

Wait for synchronization and recovery of your data in iTunes. Once synchronization is complete, you can again use your iPhone jailbroken on IOS 4.2.

dosnt work... im stuck on constant emergancy call screen and itunes will no longer pick up my iphone (althoug it will in recovery/DFU mode.) i am using an official carrier so do not need to use the hacktivate. i have tried all the JB - redsnow / greenpoison / snowbreeze but its still stuck and will not activate!! HELP (im using windows 7 ultimate)
