The iPhone Dev Team has released 0.9.6 beta 7 redsn0w of making each iPhone, iPod touch and iPad IOS 4.2.1 on whether it is tethered to jailbreak. The main new feature of beta 7 is that with a touch tethered a jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch or iPad can start again.

Currently the iPhone 3G , iPhone 3G with old bootrom and second generation iPod touch (MB model) untethered to jailbreak with the latest beta of redsn0w - newer devices can tethered gejailbreakt with the jailbreak tool. The beta of the untethered jailbreak 4.2.1 for newer handsets on IOS called Jailbreak Monte is only available to developers who have access to IOS 4.2 beta 3 and their unique signature for this firmware version. The next version of greenpois0n (RC5) will probably have the same support as the current redsn0w.
The option to newer devices tethered to boot easier to use from the command line, but can also take the form of a shortcut is activated. Default redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 7 comes with a shortcut to a fourth-generation iPod touch tethered to boot, where it is assumed that the firmware file and you redsn0w.exe iPod4, 1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw in C: \ places. You can customize this shortcut to a 4 or iPad iPhone tethered to boot by reference to the firmware file. In compiling the contract you can use the following arguments:

J-redsn0w to ask to "Just now tethered boat for now"
-I Specify reference to your IPSW
-O old-bootrom for iPod touch 2G and 3G iPhone
-B Specify to your own boot logo png

To use redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 7 is recommended that you have iTunes installed 10.1 and, if necessary using the XP Compatibility mode on Windows 7. Mac users will need to change the permissions for files *. command can actually run. On a Mac, you can eg use the following command (if you redsn0w.app and the firmware file on your desktop, you are)

open ~ / Desktop/redsn0w.app-args-j-i ~ / Desktop/iPod4, 1_4. 2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw
Untethered from a jailbreak that Comex will use IOS 4.1 and its unique signature, will possibly beyond IOS 4.3 in coming.
